SFPUC: Planning for High-Performance Facilities Management, Operations, and Maintenance

The team provided technical advisement to the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) for life cycle management and operations of the SFPUC’s new high-performance facilities in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood. The 46,000 s.f. Southeast Community Center (SECC) is being built to include a large, state-of-the-art special events space, community / commercial kitchen, and multi-purpose spaces for meetings, events, and recreation such as dance classes, gatherings and child day care services. The facility also provides a wide range of social services supporting workforce development and education for Southeast residents of all ages through its own programming and that of its community non-profit tenants. In addition, the SECC will construct and operate 4.7 acres of gardens, constructed wetlands, walkways, and picnic areas for use by community residents during operating hours.

The team was engaged by SFPUC to develop a Facilities Management Plan, Facilities Operations & Maintenance Plan (O&M Plan), and Operating Budgets to support the effect long-term and day-to-day functioning of the new SECC. the team also advised the SFPUC in its procurement of a Third-Party Operator to ensure the success of the new, high-performance SECC facilities.
